At Studio Maasland, we're open to any kind of music production, pop, rock, metal,
folk, jazz, you name it. As long as there's some sincerity and feel in the music, we'll be happy to
provide you with our services. To give you some idea on how the production of a project could work out,
here are two examples of ways of working with us:

Example: you're a band, have written some songs you play live on stage and want
to record an album.
Ok, here's how a gig like that would work. First we'll have a little meeting at our studio to get to know
each other, have a little chat about what you've been up to, listen perhaps to some cd's that set a
direction for the sound you're after and of course listen to some previous music we've produced.
If we decide to get started on your project, first thing we'll do is to come see you play in your rehearsal
room. This gives us the opportunity to get familiar with the songs and find out where some work needs to
be done before we start recording. After that, we'll start planning the sessions. A very important part of
this planning is deciding which instruments we're going to record and how: this is the stage where you'll
need to trust us to make the right decisions for the songs. Of course, you'll be there all the way and
hey, if you don't like it, we'll try something else!
During the recording session, a large part is actually used for 'finding' the right sounds. This means
we'll try different drums, cymbals, guitar amps and speakers, different mic's etc to get the sounds we're
looking for. Even some (little) changes in the arrangement of your parts could be made if this improves
the feel and impact of the song. Of course you bring all your own instruments, but you're free to take
your pick from our wealthy collection of instruments!
When tracking the instruments, we usually start with drums, then bass, guitar, keyboards and additional
solo's and finally the vocals. When we're all happy with the recorded parts, we start mixing. Mixing is a
long and complicated process (a 24-track song can easily take 4 hours and some more to mix), we prefer to do on our own.
As soon as we feel the mixes are ready, you'll get a copy and can comment on them. After some final
adjustments, the finished mixes are preferably sent of to a mastering studio. If your budget does not
allow for a professional mastering engineer to do his magic, we'll provide some basic mastering to get
the mixes balanced and up to commercial level. If you have the budget, we'll strongly advice you to
benefit from another set of trained ears to do the final polishing of your songs.

Example: you're a singer and have written some basic songs on your acoustic
guitar and are looking for someone to help you shape the songs and record them.
Great, this is what we love to do! After a chat at our studio where we listen to you singing and
playing, we'll discuss what direction to set for the songs. This could be anything from just intimate to
heavy rockin, subtly groovin' or straightforward dancin'. You name it... We've got all the instruments and
a large collection of sounds, samples, loops and other stuff to take any direction that suits the songs.
We'll provide the backing tracks and of course record your parts and mix the songs into a final product,
ready to master. So don't feel reluctant about your songs, if there's some emotion and feel in there
(or perhaps a lot of anger ;-)), we'd love to give them a listen and take it from there.
So you see, there goes a little more into creating a record than just playing in front of a microphone...

Hey, you name it, we'll record it and put in on cd. So if you've got some crazy
ideas, try to surpise us ;-)!
